Criminal Cruelty
Every year, nearly half a million dogs in the Philippines are illegally butchered for their meat. Defenseless and trusting dogs – many of them
stolen pets – are captured, transported and slaughtered under appallingly cruel conditions.
With their snouts tied shut and their front legs bound behind their backs, many suffocate to death during transport to slaughter. The survivors have their throats cut whilst fully conscious and sensible to pain.
Take Action
When you sign the petition, you:
• Support UK MPs who have signed Early Day Motion 774 targeting the dog meat trade.
• Urge the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office to pressure Philippines officials to stamp out the dog meat trade.
• Encourage the Philippines government to enforce their laws against the dog meat trade.
As an animal welfare champion and a strong advocate for the Philippines I believe the UK is in a strong position to offer support and advice on developing programmes to eliminate this cruel practice.
